Years ago, I stumbled upon a Facebook page for a boy who was battling pediatric cancer. His mama's posts were so real, so raw, so heartwrenching, they just drew me in. From that one FB friending, I ended up adding more and more families of children fighting cancer. What I discovered was shocking: pediatric cancer is NOT rare! And even more horrifying is that these children are given the same treatment options as adults, which often leaves them with terrible lifelong side effects, or worse yet, ends their lives. Of all funds for cancer research, only 4% goes to ALL of the pediatric cancers - combined! No new drugs have been produced for the treatment of pediatric cancers in 20 years.

God laid a heavy burden on my heart for these families. He gave me the idea to turn my dream of a jewelry business into a reality, and to donate 10% (sadly, lowered to 5% in 2022 due to crazy inflation) of each sale to charity. Because God has laid the problem of pediatric cancer so heavily on my heart, many of the charities I choose to donate to will be pediatric-cancer-related charities, such as St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Others that are on my heart include charities having to do with: Down Syndrome, Autism, Military vets and police, Type 1 diabetes, and *the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, just to name a few.

*Update: In November of 2019, my own daughter was diagnosed with cancer - Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. (God ALWAYS brings me TO something before He brings me THROUGH something!) After going through all of her treatments with her, I feel I can relate even more to families going through cancer. (My husband also battled cancer in 2011 - oral pharyngeal).
All praise to God, my daughter is in remission, and my husband is considered cured!!
I named my shop AWeeBitOfLove because that is all it takes to make a difference in someone's life. And if we ALL gave just a wee bit of love to those who need it, how much more beautiful would the world be? As a Christian, it is my honor to be God's hands and feet, here on earth. It is my heart's desire that God's love will be shown through my shop, and that He would be glorified and pleased. :)
